Component Replacement: Temperature Sensors
InfraStruXure InRow RC Service 57
Replace sensors rear access
1. The upper and lower return air temperature, remote air temperature and entering and leaving coolant
temperature sensors can be removed through the back panel of the unit.
2. Remove the sensor and any wire-ties holding its wire in place (note their position for reinstallation).
3. Install the new sensor by reversing this procedure. Place the sensor in the same location as the
original and secure it with wire ties. Make sure to attach the color coded wire ties at each end of the
cable for identification.
4. Plug in the sensor connection to the control board.
5. Reinstall fans, access covers and doors, and return the unit to service.
6. Verify that the sensor is taking accurate readings through the local display.
Replace sensors front access
1. Remove the front door of the unit.
2. Remove fan 5 (fourth from top) for the upper supply air temperature sensor or fan 3(third from
bottom) for the lower supply air temperature sensor.
3. Note the location of the sensor, and remove it and any wire ties holding its wire in place.
4. From the rear of the unit, pull the sensor cable through the gap below the left side of the coil, and
take care not to damage other cables in this area.
5. Make sure to attach the color coded wire ties at each end of the cable for identification.
6. Attach the color coded wire ties (that match the color for the sensor being replaced) at each end of
the cable for identification.
7. Route the new sensor and wire back through the same gap below the coil. Fasten the wire with wire
ties and secure the sensor in the same location you found it in step 3.
8. Plug in the sensor connection to the control board.
9. Reinstall fans, access covers and doors, and return the unit to service.
10. Verify that the sensor is taking accurate readings through the local display.
See “Temperature sensor locations & wiring” on page 12 for a diagram of
sensor locations.
Caution
Avoid damaging pressure sensor tubing that is bundled with
the sensor wires when cutting wire ties.
See “Fan Assembly” on page 48 for instructions on removing the fan assembly.
