Functional Description
InRow RC Operation
The InRow RC takes temperature measurements from its sensors and compares them against internal
setpoints to determine cooling output. Cooling is achieved through two coils fed from a 3-way valve.
The unit also contains eight variable-speed fans which can be slowed to limit datacenter noise and to
control cooling capacity.
Flow Meter
The InRow RC has a flow meter installed on the inlet side of its internal chilled water/glycol piping.
Measurements from the flow meter are used to calculate capacity.
Fans
The InRow RC contains 8 hot-swappable fans that provide a total of 2900 CFM.
Power Supply
Power for the InRow RC is through dual feeds, either both from separate utility sources or through
utility and UPS power sources. Internally, the unit uses two 48-VDC rectifiers to supply power to the
fans.
Condensate Pump
The pump is factory-wired and piped internally to the condensate pan. The pump is capable of
pumping 1.3 gal/hr (5.9 l/hr) at 6 ft (4.9 m) lift and a 50 ft (15.2 m) horizontal run from the base of the
unit. The pump also uses an on-board condensate overflow float switch (LSW2), which is wired into
the InRow RC alarm input for local and remote alarm capabilities. Pumps are 120V for the ACRC100
or 230V for the ACRC101 and ARCRC103.
Network Management Card
The InRow RC uses an APC Network Management Card to provide control and management
features. When connected to your network, the management card provides browser-based and
console-based management and monitoring of the InRow RC functions. The customer connection to
the management card is provided through an RJ-45 jack on the customer interface box.
Remote Temperature Sensors
The InRow RC supports one remote temperature sensor. The sensor is factory wired for remote
placement in the field on adjacent IT racks.
Cooling Group
Up to twelve InRow RC units can be linked to share setpoints and temperature readings, allowing
them to cool a room by working together. See the installation manual for how to make the
