Installation Requirements
The following requirements are essential for a successful installation:
• You must use the correct version of the Database Administration
server for your database. For example, the PATROL DB-Change
Manager product for Informix interacts only with Informix database
servers. Likewise, the PATROL DB-Change Manager product for
Sybase interacts only with Sybase database servers.
• Before beginning the installation procedures, read the release notes.
These notes contain any last-minute changes or updates to the
installation instructions.
Licensing
BMC Software provides the following types of product licenses for users
of PATROL Database Administration products:
• a short-term trial license, which lets you evaluate a product before
you purchase a license
• a permanent license, provided when you license a product
During the client installation process, you are asked which type of
license you want to use.
Trial License
A trial license lets you run one or more PATROL Database
Administration products for a limited time. No licensing information is
required for a trial installation.
